The cult show is set to appeal to a new generation, with a
21st-century version making a return to the small screen in
time for the show's 50th anniversary next September.

The remake is a co-production between ITV Studios and Pukeko
Pictures in association with Weta Workshop, which did the
design work on rocket Thunderbird 1 and the other Thunderbirds.

Pukeko is a children's television company set up by Weta
Workshop boss Sir Richard Taylor, his partner Tania Rodger
and writer Martin Baynton. Its previous productions have
included The WotWots and Jane and the Dragon.

Unlike the original Thunderbirds, which featured puppet
characters using Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's "Supermarionation"
techniques, the new Thunderbirds series will use CGI animation
and live-action model sets.

Among those voicing the characters are Gone Girl star Rosamund
Pike as Lady Penelope, David Graham, the original voice of
Parker, and Game of Thrones star Thomas Brodie-Sangster
voicing John, one of the five Tracy brothers who make up the
team at International Rescue

Thunderbirds are Go! is due to hit television screens next
year.

Executive producer Giles Ridge said that making the new show
was like "handling the family silver".

"We, like many people, are fans of the original series, so
that adds its own kind of pressure.

"I'm delighted to say that when we've shown it to people, it
has raised a few eyebrows. It's a long process."

Thunderbirds was last revived in 2004 with a live action
children's movie which bombed at the box office.

PARIS: Thunderbirds Are Go!, a remake of the classic show
from the 1960s, is slated to make its world debut at this
year¹s MIP Junior, which is being held in Cannes from
October 11 to 12.

MIP Junior¹s first-ever World Premiere TV Screening will
take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, at the
event¹s new Palm Beach location at the opposite end of
the Croisette from the Palais des Festivals. Thunderbirds
Are Go! is produced by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in
association with Weta Workshop. The 26Å~30-minute program,
which features a combination of CGI animation and
live-action miniature sets, is due to debut on ITV and
CITV in the U.K. in spring 2015. It is internationally
distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE).

Maria Kyriacou, the managing director of ITVS GE and ROW,
commented: "Thunderbirds broke new ground in the 1960s
with the use of Supermarionation. Thunderbirds Are Go!Œs
mix of CGI animation and live-action miniatures pays
homage to the classic series, while creating a pioneering
new look to appeal to today¹s children. This makes it
ideal for MIP Junior¹s first World Premiere Screening and
we look forward to presenting it to buyers at the market."

Laurine Garaude, the director of Reed MIDEM¹s TV division,
added: "This World Premiere Screening is a first for MIP
Junior, and coincides with the event moving to its new,
larger premises. It also underlines the importance of MIP
Junior as the premier choice for launching new kids¹
programs to the international audience."
