The 3D CGI animation isn't very good and too soft-focus, although
better than in some previous shows where they swapped from cell(style)
animation to CGI. I don't understand why they insist on doing this
silly style swap. :-(

Paramount+'s Rugrats Trailer Explores a Wildly Imaginative World
----------------------------------------------------------------
Paramount+ has released the official Rugrats trailer for the
reimagining of the classic '90s hit in a brand-new series
featuring rich and colorful CG animation. The series follows
Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie, and Angelica as they explore
the world and beyond from their pint-sized and wildly
imaginative point-of-view.

Featuring the original voice cast of the titular toddlers,
including E.G. Daily and Nancy Cartwright, the series is
scheduled to debut on Thursday, May 27. You can check out the
trailer now in the player below!

Trailer: (1min 35secs)

Based on the classic Nickelodeon 90s children's series of the
same name, the Rugrats revival was officially confirmed last
February. It will see the return of the original main voice
cast for the children, Daily as Tommy Pickles, Cartwright as
Chuckie Finster, Cheryl Chase as Angelica Pickles, Cree Summer
as Susie Carmichael, and Kath Soucie as Phil and Lil.

Joining them are new cast members for the parents, including
Tony Hale as Chuckie's father Chas, Natalie Morales as Phil &
Lil's mother Betty, Nicole Byer as Susie's mother Lucy, Anna
Chlumsky as Angelica's mother Charlotte, Ashley Rae Spillers
as Tommy's mother Didi, Tom Dewey as Tommy's father Stu,
Timothy Simons as Angelica's father Drew, Omar Miller as
Susie's father Randy, and Michael McKean as Grandpa Lou
Pickles.

The CG-animated series is executive produced by Eryk Casemiro
and Kate Boutilier, along with Dave Pressler and Casey Leonard.
Rachel Lipman is also serving as a producer, with Kellie Smith
set as a line producer.

The original Rugrats was created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo,
and Paul Germain. It debuted 30 years ago in 1991 and was in
production for nine seasons. Due to its popularity, it spawned
off a film trilogy as well as a sequel series titled
All Grown Up!, which featured the toddlers in their teens.

I can think of at least two reasons:

1. They have absolutely /no/ loyalty to or appreciation of the
original.

2. They believe it will make them richer.

1. They have absolutely /no/ loyalty to or appreciation of the

2. They believe it will make them richer.
Those two sum up all of Hollyweird thanks to the lazy-ass "Reboot" generation.

3. It's easier
Once they have the 3D models, they can basically do anything
they want fairly easily by "simply" manipulating the models,
whereas with cell-animation (even on a computer) it requires
drawing lots of new images. They can also easily move the
"camera" around either to get a better angle or within the
actual scene for dramatic effect.

4. It's cheaper
Again once the 3D models are done, the animation can be done
by fewer people - it doesn't require a relatively big team
of people drawing and painting the images.

5. It looks more "modern"
In reality it usually looks digustingly awful. :-(
