I've only seen the trailer and interviews for "Coco", but it looks like
THE most ridiculous Pixar movie yet ... and the kid that does the
character's voice is already an obnoxious, big-headed little brat. :-\

It was excellent. Made a jaded guy cry.

Blue Sky's The Hat Putato Movie. On the heels of reviving the Peanuts years ago, the studio did this homage to the 1984 game show, with Will Ferrell as the voice of Bil Kulin, the legend game show host who tossed potatoes at the contestants. It was a funny.

Will Ferrel is NEVER EVER "funny" ... unless you meant peculair, in
which case he's always that.

Of the ones I have actually rented and seen, I would have to say:

The Secret Life of Pets

The Batman LEGO Movie

But I haven't seen, for example, Coco yet.

Coco is very good IMHO, and I don't share any of those traditions.

Pretty sure "Pets" was 2016. "Batman" was good, though not as good as
the original Lego movie.

Ah, but I /bought/ it in May 2017, which probably means I didn't
/rent/ it until earlier in 2017.

So, for me, it is a 2017 movie, just as Coco and Despicable Me 3 will
be, for me, 2018 movies. Such are the perils of renting rather than
gong to the theater.

As an alternative, here are the ones I /purchased/ in 2017:

Angry Birds Movie, The
Cars 3
Lego Batman Movie, The
Moana
Mune: Guardian of the Moon
Phantom Boy
Secret Life of Pets, The
Sing

I saw many more, so, in the sense that I liked them enough to buy
them, these are /all/ my favorites which were put forth as "animated".

Most of the films I purchased were put forth as "live action", but
many of them contained a whole lot of animation, as did even more that
I rented. And, it is hard to see such films as:

Suicide Squad
Warcraft

as much more than animated. The distinction appears to be as much
about intent as about reality.

After all, anyone who has seen the special features on early Disney
animated features knows that at least parts of the story were acted
out and sketched to give the animators a starting point. And mo-cap
has been used for both "animated" and "live-action" films for some
time. All that is left, at least for CGI animation, is the intention
of the filmmakers.
