The Conan sidekick will host Anidom Beyond Show on social broadcasting
platform Caffeine starting Sunday at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The hourlong
program will feature interviews with the cast and crew of Fox animated series
The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, Bless the Harts, Duncanville and
more. Viewers will be able to interact live with Richter via Caffeine's user
interface platform. "I love animation, and I love working in animation doing
cartoon voices," says Richter. "And now with this recap show, I plan to
become the Barbara Walters of animation interview shows." Fox Entertainment
president Michael Thorn adds: "Animation Domination enjoys one of
television's most loyal followings, with its cultural influence reaching far
beyond the linear world and deep into the digital universe. With Andy at the
helm, the Anidom Beyond Show will even further extend our brand's legacy by
introducing it to a new legion of fans in a fun and innovative way."

[What's the deal with all these "after shows"?]

Every American should want President Trump and his administration to handle
the coronavirus epidemic effectively and successfully. Those who seem eager
to see the president fail and to call every administration misstep a fiasco
risk letting their partisanship blind them to the demands not only of civic
responsibility but of basic decency.

The content owners want to control, or at least influence, the narrative
when it comes to fan discussion of the content. One way to do that is to get
in there on social media and interact with the fans directly. This can suck
pretty hard. So they broadcast their side of the discussion and let it get
into social media without having to wade through the sludge as much. (Some
shows are likely totally hands off, just let the hosts and guests say what
they want...the appearance of engagement and getting people talking is more
important than a specific viewpoint.)

Dave Van Domelen, expects that "after shows" are also super cheap to
produce but get a significant fraction of the viewers from the shows
themselves.

Dave already addresses this in his post. It strikes me as #content tht is arguably more profitable (in terms of attention dollars) than just doing commentary tracks on physical media. Which consumers presumably don't buy anymore.

It sort of makes sense, when you consider how much #content is done prior to a shows release. Why not add some more creator-driven #content AFTER the release?

Terrence Briggs, who accidentally discovered that USENET is still archived on Google Groups. When are we gonna see that Stadia integration, y'all?

Remember how Korrasami was explained on the Internet after the Korra finale aired? Nowadays, that sort of thing would either be part of an aftershow, or a podcast. New era.

Terrence Briggs, who would have LOVED to see an aftershow podcast for that Killing Joke animated flick, just to see what the heck they THOUGHT the finished product was.

I caught that in the theater on Fathom Events. I thought the Mark
Hamil featurette was nice. I admit to being underwhelmed
by the actual movie.

I can remember when TV regularly had programs about upcoming movies.
It's nice to see that the tradition continues, in some form, whether
before or after they are released (or escape, depending).

Yes, it was rather ... lame.

Since they clearly /can/ produce good animated Batman films, I wonder
if they thought doing an R-rated one meant they could slack off on the
actual story.

<snip>

The BBC still makes a show called 'Talking Movies' which "presents the
latest news, reviews and updates from the world of cinema including
Hollywood blockbusters, documentaries and global cinema." It is
available on BBC World News (available as a Sky TV channel here in New
Zealand) and apparently BBC America.
